Bailing Out the Titanic with a Teaspoon

http://www.npr.org/2012/01/30/145995636/freddie-mac-betting-against-struggling-homeowners?sc=fb&cc=fp

I have read three books on this subject: "The Great American Stick-Up" by Robert Scheer, "Capitalism Hits the Fan" by Richard Wolff, and "Getting Steamed to Overthrow Corporatism" by Ralph Nader. I am currently reading "Reckless Endangerment" by Gretchen Morgenson and Joshua Rosner.

Educate yourselves if you have not already done so. Watch if don't have time to read "The Warning" PBS, "To Big to Fail" HBO, or "Inside Job" narrated by Matt Damon.

Listen to the Bill Moyers and Company or 60 Minutes shows on this subject.

Every source I have heard or read states that there is NOTHING IN PLACE to stop another meltdown from happening. The Dodd Frank Act attempts to bail out the Titanic with a teaspoon.

This is why I support the OWS movement. Our government has been bought and paid for by the .001%$. Both parties have been corrupted.

Our children's and grand children's futures are at stake. Act or get out of those way of those who do.

State of the Union and the Mexican Drug War/OWS

In response to: OPPENHEIMER: Drug war left out of State of the Union

Maybe Obama is afraid to upset the Mexican economic tea cart?  One billion dollars a day in trade crosses our mutual border daily.  Mexico is right up near the top in countries who provide oil to the US.

Please Mr. President don’t you dare say anything that might upset American corporations who own and operate slave wage maquiladoras on the border.  Don’t mention the fact that you support the Mexican drug war.  You support it with money, equipment, manpower, and hundreds of thousands of US addicts too.

By the way, is there any possibility that US banks are profiting by laundering billions of dollars in cartel incomes?  You know those same banks that ripped off the middle class with their sub-prime chicanery?  Does the American Military Complex and the American gun industry profit from weapons sales (legal or not) to cartel thugs?

Did you notice that on May 10, 2011 President Obama did a pro-Latino speech standing on the Border in El Paso, Texas?  Do you think that President Obama did not know that he was speaking directly across from Ciudad Juarez, ground zero in the Mexican Drug war?   Fifty thousand people have died in this failing, continuous war and Obama does not mention it while standing right in front of it?

This drug war SOTU disgrace is very similar to President Obama failing to mention the Occupy Movement too.  The 99% of both countries are not only protesting about being financially raped by the 1%, but they are protesting people dying because of the 1%’s failed economic, drug, and immigration policies too.

And our President remains silent.

Response to HP "More Than 1,600 Deportation Cases Set To Be Closed In Denver And Baltimore "

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/20/more-than-1600-deportatio_n_1218906.html?ref=latino-voices&ncid=edlinkusaolp00000009

HP – please do detailed report of the process by which these 1,600 cases were closed.

My suspicion (as a retired US Border Patrol Agent) is that the government is using the process known as “administrative closure” in order to put these cases on hold on the back burner.

If this is true, this is yet another example a “smoke for votes” stunt pulled by the Obama Administration.

HP-please get another qualified immigration attorney to report on this process.

Here are my questions: Does the closing of these cases give these 1,600 people any real legal immigration status? My guess is no.
Does this closure process give any of these people special work authorization? My guess is no.
Can a republican president come along and reopen all of these cases and deport these people? My guess is yes.

And a few more common sense questions for us lay people:
Will many of these undocumented people continue to work under the table or with fraudulent documents as they have most likely done since entering the country?
Is this real immigration reform as promised by the campaigning Obama of 2008?
Are we not again getting raped by the 1% who run our government for their own profit?

Force-fed Baloney

Please discuss the issue of  the political brainwashing of mainstream voters.  In particular, how said brainwashing causes a substantial portion of the 99% to truly believe that their choice of either an Obama or a Romney is a choice to their best interests?

Our ignorance is their power.

I nominate Ralph Nader and Elizabeth Warren as the OWS candidates.

The rest are simply regurgitation's of the same old force-fed baloney.

What Does It Take To Get Washington’s Attention On The Border?

You want to get their attention? Speaking from the perspective of a retired US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent, consider a bi-national occupy the border project.

One billion dollars in trade crosses the border daily. Don’t forget who still needs, uses, and profits from Mexican oil and Mexican drugs.

The bi-national 1% profit while the majority of good citizens on both sides of the border suffer. US citizens lose jobs and foot the bills for the medical and educational expenses of the undocumented. Many Mexicans choose to go north because the Mexican federal minimum wage is about 62.5 US cents per hour (5 US bucks a day). Tell me, what the heck would you do?

This immigration fiasco and drug war are set ups by the 1%. They rake in the money and uses propaganda to stereotype the symptom, not the cause. The cause is their own insidious greed.

I say peacefully and legally occupy the border. Hit them where it hurts them most; bi-national trade and political correctness.

At the same time advocate for all Mexican victims of the failed US backed drug war (40 to 60 thousand killed so far) on both sides of the border to apply for US asylum as a persecuted drug war group.

Use our freedom of speech and US asylum laws to embarrass both governments world wide.

Get their attention by using non-violent, legal measures – the scope of which they have never seen before.

The Undocumented - One Piece of the Immigration Puzzle

I have very little tolerance for people who take one piece of the immigration puzzle (the undocumented) and use that to justify their self-righteous vilification of millions of people, all while not taking any responsibility to learn the facts beyond typical US immigration propaganda.

Yes the undocumented are a symptom and a serious symptom at that.  Yet they are not the cause and therefore not the cure for the much more insidious problem of  our failed US system of immigration for profit.
