I wonder if the posters who make disparaging comments really understand how their own ignorance actually supports the elites' (or the 1%'s) insidious agenda that keeps the undocumented coming to the US?

The root cause of undocumented Latin Americans sneaking into the US is not only the systemic socioeconomic greed of the US elite, but the systemic socioeconomic greed of the undocumented's home country elite too. These groups work together to profit off of undocumented labor and send you the American ignorant the bills.

These hateful posters know that they are being used in this insidious plot yet they just can't seem to connect the dots to know who is actually using them or how. So they take the easiest most predictable route and blame the undocumented.

That is kind of like blaming climate change on forest fires.

The elite profit off of your ignorance. Read up about how the largest influx of undocumented came after Clinton's NAFTA (which by the way was sold t us as the answer to illegal immigration). Wal-Mart and US corn in Mexico ruined many small farmers and business owners. Guess where they went and are still going?

Read up about the cold war and the forty year long drug war in Latin America. See how Uncle Sam pushed US economic policies while turning a blind eye to the murderous juntas, death squads, and coups that our government knowingly supported.  Read Naomi Klein's "The Shock Doctrine (The Rise of Disaster Capitalism)"

Fast forward to the current failed Mexican Drug War started by Mexican President Calderon in 2006. 100,000 people have been killed and 25,000 are missing.

And how does the US reward there little Mexican drug war CEO conspirator?  How about a lucrative year's long fellowship at none other than Harvard.

The Horrific Costs and Consequences of Illegal Immigration, Illegal Drugs and Illegal Guns

The US and Mexican elite create and profit from illegal immigration then dump the costs and consequences upon US taxpayers and the undocumented.

Note:  substitute "illegal drugs" or "illegal guns" for "illegal immigration" and you have two other  "designed to  fail" programs that the bi-national elite profoundly profit from at the profound expense and suffering of both the US and Mexican citizenry.       

On the US side:  billions in border enforcement, lost jobs, over-crowded emergency rooms, over-crowded school rooms, and in many cases changes in home town demographics that adversely affect resident US citizens' qualities of life.

On the Mexican side:  the push/pull of the bi-national elite's socio-economic profit policies force the Mexican undocumented to leave their homes and families and face the dangerous and sometimes deadly perils of crossing our mutual border.   Extreme poverty, human-rights violations, rampant corruption and official impunity are other realities of life that are part of the Mexican poor's very existence.    

Here is what Obama and Pena Nieto are not saying:  Despite our 1.25 billion dollars in daily cross-border trade, we agree to exchange laborers, drugs and oil for foreign aid, remittances, US trade, lucrative business investments and tons of illegal guns. 

In the last six years over 100,000 people have been slaughtered in Mexico as a result of Felipe Calderon's failed US backed war on drugs.  The horrific results on the US side are the US having the highest drug addiction, prison populations, and per capita gun related deaths in the world.

US corporations and Mexican cartels control both governments for profit.   That is why any attempts at immigration, drug or gun reform fails.   

Send us your laborers, drugs and oil and in kind we will repay you with foreign aid, remittances, US trade,  business investments and illegal guns. 

We the bi-national elite insidiously profit while sticking Mexico's undocumented and US taxpayer's with the horrific costs and consequences.      

  

Plausible Deniability? The Benefit Of The Doubt? Forget it!

Forget "plausible deniability" for - and "benefit of the doubt" to - either government.

The war on drugs creates legal and illegal profits not for only the bi-national elite (US/Mexico) but for the global elite too. Just search Wachovia and HSBC banks and see how they were caught laundering cartel money. Witness how ex-Mexican Drug War President Felipe Calderon has recently been awarded a year's long fellowship at Harvard for being such a good little Drug War CEO.

Also don't forget who has the highest (privatized) prison population in the world and who it is who benefits at from that at the tax payers' expense.

No matter what these bi-national profiteers' politicians say, they will never allow illegal immigration to be fixed either. There is simply too much money to be made off of undocumented labor, too much money being pumped into the border security industrial complex, and too much money in remittances being sent back into Mexico to "kill" the goose that lays those golden eggs.

They are currently attempting to pass immigration reform that completely ignores the fact that the bi-national 1%'s economic policies of greed are the root cause of undocumented people sneaking into the US.

Both Sides Immigration Mad - Do They Understand Why?

The undocumented, the documented, and US citizens are all angry about illegal immigration and immigration reform - and rightly so.

Do they really understand who and what is the root cause of their combined anger?  Are they able to see the root cause  despite their anger?  Are they perhaps willing to unite with the "other side" to defeat this root cause?     

The Mexican undocumented are the best example to study:  they are our direct neighbors and make up over 50% of all of the undocumented in the US.

The greed of the bi-national elite (US/Mexico) causes the poverty and "for profit"  politics that simultaneously pushes  and pulls them into the US.  They are used primarily for their labor in the US and their remittances sent back home.  They also suffer family separation and loss of life as they cross our border.

US taxpayers are used in this process too.  Their taxes go to fatten the pockets of the US elite's border security industrial complex.  Billions are spent on all of the enforcement  budgets and equipment that are touted as necessary to "secure" the border.  They also suffer from jobs lost, over -crowded emergency and school rooms,   and the quality of their home town lives being destroyed as the number of undocumented increase in our country.  

So we have the citizens of two countries being used by the elite of two countries.  The US elite's politicians will all of us believe that immigration reform - the legalization of 11 million undocumented balanced with billions spend for more agents and drones on the border - will solve the problem.

This is a lie.  This is the juicy carrot that our profiteering politicians dangle to both sides of the argument.  Hungry people cannot be stopped from crossing our borders.  In fact the two major immigration reform programs of the last three decades (Reagan's Amnesty and Clinton's NAFTA) actually increased the number of undocumented in the US from some 3 million to the 11 or 12 million it is today.

Figure this out folks before we let them pass another boondoggle that will not solve the problem.

My solution:  educate ourselves and unite.  Do you have any idea of the bi-national power our two sides could peacefully exert against the tyranny of the bi-national elite?  Imagine a border wide, bi-national protest.  Imagine shutting the border down until our two governments come to their senses.

Imagine the good people of Mexico having equivalent US wages and services at home.  Imagine them not having to leave their families to sneak into the US to survive.  Imagine a reduction of over 50% of  undocumented people crossing our border and living illegally in our towns.  Imagine a work visa program that benefitted the citizens of both countries.  Imagine stopping the insidious, failed, US backed  war on drugs in Mexico. 

This can all happen if we understand and face the root cause of illegal immigration and failed immigration reform.    

Let's Shut This Madness Down Until Our Two Governments Come To Their Senses

Thank you to John Ackerman and FP for shedding a powerful light on what is happening with EPN and Mexico today.

Many Americans ( perhaps the majority) are unfortunately very uninformed about  the economic/foreign policy "goings on" between the of US and Mexican elite.  For instance most Americans do not know that the largest influx of undocumented to the US occurred after the passage of Reagan's Amnesty and Clinton's NAFTA.  My fellow Americans, do you not remember that both programs promised to end illegal immigration to the US?

Those same Americans are most likely unaware that NAFTA pushed US corn on to Mexican markets and put many small Mexican corn growers out of business.  They also may not know that Wal-Mart is Mexico's number one retail store which also put small Mexican business owners out of business too.

Shouldn't  Americans be a little suspicious that (as far as the Mexican undocumented are concerned)  the two most profound  immigration and economic reform laws passed within the last three decades actually brought  more undocumented to the US than ever before?

Now we hear the Gang of 8's drums beating about more immigration reform.  We hear that same old "border security" propaganda being pushed as a compromise we (the taxpayers)  have to pay for the 11 or so million undocumented who might  be legalized.  Whose fault is it that these people got through, and was it by design?

Americans are just as much being used as pawns in this game as are the (Mexican) undocumented are.  The undocumented are being used for cheap labor, remittances, and as a justification to build up the US border security industrial complex;   Americans are being used not only for their tax dollars but because of  their ignorance as to the bi-national elite's insidious motives for "immigration reform".

Don't  forget the 1.25 billion dollars a day in cross border trade that the rich enjoy today.

And if you look really closely look you will see how the bi-national elite simultaneously profit not only from illegal drugs and illegal immigration, but from the ineffective illegal drug and illegal immigration wars that they say are will put an end to it all (this time).    

I have never heard Obama mention once the 100,000 people killed, 25,000 missing, or 240,000 displaced as a result of Felipe Calderon's (and now EPN's) senseless US backed drug war in Mexico.
If Obama did question Calderon's war he (Obama) might have to explain how Felipe Calderon just  received a year's long fellowship at Harvard University as their  First Angelopoulos Global Leader.  Obama might also have to explain how Calderon is pulling down $100,000 a lecture expounding the same economic propaganda that John Ackerman referred to in the above article. 
Or if Obama called out Calderon Obama might have to justify how he himself (Obama) received the Nobel Peace Prize while keeping silent for so long  about Calderon's drug war atrocities.

I would like to see the good people from both sides of the border do a peaceful border-wide demonstration.  Let's shut this madness down until our two governments come to their senses

No More Gimmick Immigration Reform Bills!

Washington profiteers will throw average US taxpayers under the immigration bus while pandering to the Latino vote, pandering to their cronies who run the border security industrial complex, and sending the majority of the bills and headaches to American taxpayers.

Obama now heads to Mexico to continue to pander to the Mexican elite as their bi-national profits from trade, oil and the "war" on drugs continually soar upward.

These shysters will never secure the border in such a way that it interferes with their 1.25 billion dollars a day in cross border trade.

They play on people's emotions by pretending to care about the undocumented's families being broken up and people dying crossing our border deserts. We seldom hear them discuss what their "designed to fail for profit" immigration policies have done to the middle class Americans.

Yet Washington remains silent about the 100,000 people killed during Calderon's failed US backed Mexican drug war that rages on today? In fact, Washington remains silent about Harvard University granting their crony Mexican Drug War President Felipe Calderon the First Angelopoulos Global Leader's award? Calderon gets a free one year's Harvard vacation and $100,000 a pop speaking at crony universities?

They are lying about their motives behind immigration reform just as the Bush administration lied about its motives for starting the war in Iraq. It is all about money; their money.

No more gimmick bills until we get to the bottom of their insidious motives behind illegal immigration and immigration reform (for profit)!

We The People Need To Draw Our Line In The (Immigration) Sand

Mid-1980's - close to 3 million undocumented legalized under Reagan's Amnesty.

Today - Washington is pushing for the legalization of 11 or 12 million more undocumented.

The Reagan Administration drew the first line in the sand and gave the undocumented king's X's in exchange for billions of our tax dollars: beefed-up border security and interior enforcement budgets were pitched as the end of illegal immigration.

Today's leaders are drawing up their line and giving kings X's to some 11 million more undocumented: billions more are going towards today's outrageously priced border security and interior enforcement industrial complexes.

The drones and militarized lines the bi-national elite draw in the sand will not stop hungry people from finding their way into the US.

Our leaders have always refused to address the disparity in wealth and poverty in Mexico as the cause of over 50% of our problems with the Mexican undocumented.

If they were to discuss it they would have to admit that their own crony US corporations have always profited off of Mexican illegal immigration.

We the people need to organize and draw a final line in the sand. We are being used as pawns just as are the undocumented.

The Mexican undocumented should be allowed to stay and work at home (with their families) and have equivalent US wages and services at home in Mexico.

US taxpayers should not have to lose jobs to the Mexican undocumented nor pay for the educational, medical, and enforcement costs attributed to the undocumented.
