US - Mexico NAFTA/Poverty/Drug War Border "Hunger Games"  -  May The Fittest Survive!

How does a government and country who tout themselves as the world's greatest example of liberty, democracy and justice for all create atrocities like Clinton's 1994 NAFTA and Calderon's 2006 Mexican Drug War and then ignore their disastrous results?  NAFTA caused the largest influx of undocumented people into the US at any given time and Calderon's US backed Mexican Drug War has sacrificed over 120,000 people in Mexico.

If Bill Clinton really believed that NAFTA and its border maquiladora factories would stop illegal immigration to the US, why did his administration simultaneously start "Operation Gatekeeper" and NAFTA in the same year?

Mexico is our number two source of oil and or third largest trading partner with whom we now share 1.25 billion dollars a day in cross border trade with.

Mexico also is the number one supplier of illegal drugs to the US and the number one supplier of undocumented to the US.  And of course, the US illegally transports tons of cash from illegal US drug sales and tons of guns (legal and not) sold to Mexico.

The crooks who run our corporate-run government and the crooks who run their cartel-run government are insidiously enmeshed in their drug, greed and trade-induced webs of deceit.

How in God's name does Washington expect us to ignore the fact that Mexican poverty and their drug war are simply over-looked during Washington's immigration reform discussions?

They want to fix the problematic symptom of  11.2 million undocumented yet ignore the very reasons that the majority of the US undocumented (60% - Mexican) come and stay here?

We have indeed met the enemy Pogo.
