Washington's Immigration Road Is Paved In Greed, Blood, Deceit and Shame

Washington's Immigration Road Is Paved In Greed, Blood, Deceit and Shame

President Obama will use his executive power for "deferred action dreamers" and their parents.  He will "throw a bone" to a small percentage of America's current undocumented and predictably ignore the insidious reasons that illegal immigration has continued for decades - and will continue for decades to come.

This political chess move will be seen as another bump in America's long, dark and treacherous immigration road.

Despite Obama's move, Reagan's Amnesty, and current attempts at immigration reform,  Washington's immigration road is paved in greed, blood, deceit, and shame.

That is the truth Washington's immigration profiteers do not want Americans to see.

Illegal immigration brings cheap laborers and big profits for America's greedy, corporate elite.  Washington's NAFTA - which simultaneously creates profit for the bi-national elite and poverty for the foreign poor - is the real cause of illegal immigration.  Sadly the undocumented leave their homes while some will die - and will continue to die - in the border crossing process.

Don't be fooled by the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Custom's Enforcement's (ICE) token attempts to curb the hiring of the undocumented.  Their attempts are ineffective while  designed to make Americans think Washington actually cares about illegal immigration and undocumented employment.

I speak as a retired US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent.

Don't be fooled by how secure Washington says the Mexican border is.   Hardened criminals will continue to be among the people who slip through the line.  Those hardened criminals will continue to commit violent crimes against innocent American victims.

Don't be fooled by the billions of American tax dollars given out to Washington's crony border enforcement industry.  Here again only a fool would believe that border enforcement is designed to be anything but semi-effective.  Just as with their "war on drugs", the huge profits in immigration  enforcement are made by making the enforcement monster bigger while keeping it semi-effective.

Don't be fooled by "immigration reform" which pretends to solve the above problems.   How can Washington's "reform" solve illegal immigration when Washington fails to address its own foreign trade and drug war policies that exacerbate illegal immigration?

After all, one would not want to kill the goose that continually lays those golden labor, drug, and enforcement boodle filled eggs,  now would one?

Don't throw Americans under the immigration reform bus either.  Illegal immigration affects American taxpayers.  Americans are victims who have to wait in line in overcrowded hospital emergency rooms.  It affects their schools.  It causes some amount of job losses to those Americans.  It causes billions of their tax dollars to be wasted on ineffective border security.  And like it or not, it forces some Americans to accept unwanted demographic changes to some of their towns.  You folks need to get it. This is simply not fair to some Americans and has affected their natural feelings of compassion and generosity.

Finally I say to pro immigration activists - don't allow the suffering of the future undocumented to  continue.  Try and think of them - and not only yourselves.

Immigration reform that does not attack poverty as the root cause of illegal immigration is self-defeating.  More undocumented will - without any doubt whatsoever - continue to come, suffer, and die in the process.

You must include Washington's poverty causing i.e. illegal immigration causing trade policies within your activism for the undocumented.  Otherwise you are selfishly part of the problem and not part of a solution.
