2014 - The Gift of Vipassana

In 2014 Julia Marie Gillette suggested the gift of Vipassana meditation via S.N. Goenka's 10 day meditation course.

I sat my first course in March and served in two others:  one in June, and one in December.

Here are my interpretations of what Goenkaji says about our habituated ways of thinking:  our "default" unconscious mode of thinking thrives only in the past or future.   Those past/future thoughts consist of subject-things that we really like or want (crave) or subject-things that we really don't like or don't want (aversion).

Then we have our conditioned responses and reactions to the above ways of thinking.  Responses typically based in either anger, or fear, or hatred, or lust, or mistrust, or  cravings, or addictions, or any other negative actions (or combinations thereof ) that are painfully destructive not only to us - both  those around us too.

Our conditioned, habitual ways of thinking are based in ignorance and not the universal laws of Dhamma.

Goenka's 10 day course  gave me not only the necessary meditation technique, but it also gave me the actual experience of observing my habituated ways of thinking and my conditioned reactions to my  thinking.

For example I am now much clearer about my default ways of reacting to things that I feel threatened by or do not understand.  I respond with negativity and anger.  Unfortunately my wife Jennifer has bared the brunt of my negative reactions during our marriage .  My conditioned triggers include (but are not limed to) money, mistrust, fears of being left, controlled, used etc.

Jennifer and I both suffer because my reactions do not correlate with the truth of either who Jennifer is - or who I am.  I also know that all humans have their own habituated ways of reacting which fuels agitation and suffering.    With that said, I am and can be only responsible for myself.

Goenka's 10 day course delivers detailed instructions about Gautama Buddha's 2,500 year old Vipassana meditation.  Please note that Vipassana meditation is not Buddhism - they are not the same.

Until now I was never taught the truth about our body-mind connection.   I was never taught about how observing and being present with our body-mind connection could bring such peace and happiness.

On the other hand -  I was never taught that my own suffering was and is caused by my own ignorance of  and disconnection from our body-mind connection.  I never knew that I was also always incorrectly taught that the key to our my salvation could only be found somewhere outside the experience of my body-mind connection.
I am committed to taking responsibility for the suffering that I am causing not only in my marriage, but in all areas of my life.  I am committed to unraveling my own ignorance and stopping my own negative, hurtful reactions.

At the age of 63 and after years of therapy and other attempts at understanding what inside drives me, I am very excited and hopeful about my current Vipassana path.

OK.  Here are some realities of the course:

For 10 days you have to extract yourselves from your worldly habits in order to observe them.  Yes it must be done in silence and disconnection from the outside world.  Yes you are required to follow the rules of the course.  Yes there will be discomfort from sitting in meditation.  Yes you will be taken care of.  You will eat delicious vegetarian food and be able to discuss any questions  with your course teacher.  You will also be given daily DVD recorded discourses given by S.N. Goenka himself.  I found Goenka's humor and understanding of what I was going through to be invaluable aids to completing the course.

Finally I found it very powerful to know that Goenka's 10 day courses in Vipassana Meditation are created from a non-profit organization.  Previous students have "paid it forward" for you to be able to attend the course that you will attend if you decide to.  There are also centers world-wide.

Once your course is completed, you pay according to your ability and desire.  Also the teachers, managers and kitchen servers who make your course possible do so on a voluntarily, non-paid basis.   They serve because they believe in the value of this course.

Namaste.  Love.

Happy New Year!

Vipassana Meditation - Hope For Human Beings

Vipassana Meditation - Hope For Human Beings

Vipassana meditation was taught by Gautama the Buddha 2,500 years ago.  There is a direct lineage from Buddha to the S.N. Goenka courses taught around the world today.

Vipassana meditation is a technique and is not "Buddhism" or any other religion.  It is a method by which meditation practitioners can unravel habituated ways of thinking and reacting that causes the imbalance of their own body-mind complexes, but causes the suffering of loved ones around them too.

I practice Vipassana in order to get to the root of my angry, reactionary arguments that I have with my wife Jennifer.  Like a fighter shadow-boxing while waiting to burst out of  his corner,  all it takes is another triggering "bell ringing" and round ten million and something is on.  This argument reaction  often means the "vocal" gloves come off and we both habitually go for each other's  jugulars.

Jennifer and I have never physically hit or harmed each other physically in any way.  With that said, who knows how deep the emotional damage runs from our destructive arguments.

Those arguments are not only pointless but blindly repetitive to us both.  You know - money, chores, baseless mistrust, fill in the blank ad infinitum.  I know something inside of me is threatened and fearful and at the point of arguing I have little or no "control" of what comes out of my mouth.  I have tried therapy over the many years but to no avail.  I take medication for depression which helps.   I suffer from post traumatic stress disorder due primarily to my work as a US Border Patrol agent.  I incorporated (as we all do) what I learned at home as a kid which basically translates arguments into  screaming or leaving - or both.  All of the above are symptoms, but not the cause of my arguing and suffering.  I know that the root cause is buried somewhere in my body-mind complex and Vipassana is the only meditation I know of that directly addresses the body-mind complex as root cause of our problems.

The promise of Vipassana is to give me awareness of my own bodily sensations before the argumentative, bullet-train blasts off from the station.  This is happening slowly and I trust that I will at some point be able to throw a monkey wrench in my habitual way of reacting and stop hurting Jennifer and myself too.

Goenka's Ten Day Course offers sitting meditation periods, silence, no communication with the outside world and healthy vegetarian food  too.  By the way, Goenkaji's daily discourses will guide you along the way and one always has the option of privately asking teachers questions too.

Goenka's 10 day course is a no-nonsense approach to unplug from our own habituated ways of being present in the world.  Some of mine frankly do not work and taint the time I have left on this earth.  The Clock of Vipassana has struck in my heart and gives me results and therefore hope that I actually experience.

Namaste, John

Facts Are Facts Just Ask OJ Simpson

Facts Are Facts  Just Ask OJ Simpson

Were mistakes made in the murder trial against OJ Simpson? Was the jury possibly swayed incorrectly?

Facts are facts. OJ was not guilty because the jury said to.

Is it possible that the prosecutors made any mistakes or that the Grand Jury was swayed in the Wilson Ferguson indictment proceedings?

Facts are facts. The Wilson Grand Jury found no probable cause to indict Wilson. So he too, like OJ, is innocent because facts are facts and the juries ruled so.

A Cop Hopped Up On His Own Egoistic Righteousness And A Badge Gets Away With Murder

In Response:

A Cop Hopped Up On His Own Egoistic Righteousness And A Badge Gets Away With Murder

In an unprecedented move St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Robert McCulloch dumped his prosecutorial responsibilities upon a grand jury.  By doing so McCulloch created a quagmire in which a "true bill" for probable cause to try Wilson for Brown's death was buried in a nightmare of testimony and evidence that only an actual trail jury should have been allowed to sift through.

The results?  Michael Brown was fallaciously tried without legal representation.

Beyond the above there was no reason for Wilson to have to pursue the wounded Brown on foot and continue to shoot at Brown.

Brown was running for his life.  Where would he go?  How could he hide?

Wilson easily could have jumped back in his vehicle, turned around and followed the wounded Brown until other backup arrived.

Nope.  Wilson saw his chance for five minutes of fame and took it.

This case represents a cop hopped up on his own egoistic righteousness getting away with murder.  A cop not only immorally acting under his color of authority but immorally protected by it too.

Please sign this petition:

The same unconscious culture that created the conditions for the Wilson and Brown incident to happen creates the majority of the ignorant, callous, American- exceptionalist posters below.

The hell you see is the hell you create and are responsible for.
May you be free from danger.
May you be physically and mentally happy.
May you have ease of support and well being.
May you be liberated.

Washington's Horrendous Border Hunger Games Are No Joke Mr. President

In response:

Washington's Horrendous Border Hunger Games Are No Joke Mr. President

Study Washington's insidious approach to illegal immigration and you will see that the system is set up to keep people suffering in poverty at home and coming illegally to the US.

Yes, over the years you will see give and take - as in Amnesties or some relief for the undocumented "balanced" with billions more taxpayer dollars given away in border security boodle.  With that said, the system keeps causing more people to come by rewarding a few.

Is this not Washington's Horrendous Border Hunger Games?

Yes undocumented, if you can make it though you will be allowed to work for us for years and you may be able to stay.  Meanwhile taxpayers Washington will continue to use you and lie to you as you suffer the costs and consequences of this scam.

Everyone needs to address this decade's old scam.  People will continue to come and die crossing the border.  Deportations will continue.  Taxpayers will remain angry.  And unless everyone involved educates themselves to the above and protests the above, we all will be just as responsible as Washington's immigration profiteers for the deaths and suffering that will without a doubt continue.

Wilson's Five Minutes of Fame Traded For Brown's Life And A Lifetime Of Pain

Wilson's Five Minutes of Fame Traded For Brown's Life And A Lifetime Of Pain

Five minutes of fame for a lifetime of pain. Wilson will never be able to stop looking over his shoulder. He will always be haunted by what he did (despite his cavalier attitude now). Taking someone else's life is also self-inflicted wound, suicide by a thousands cuts and haunting thoughts so to speak.

Wilson shows about as much remorse from shooting Brown in the head as he would from giving someone a traffic ticket.

Wilson will never see the inside of a cop car again (from the front seat).

Washington Has Again Immigration Punked America

In response:

Washington Has Again Immigration Punked America

Punked, deceived, swindled, defrauded, duped, hoaxed, hoodwinked, bamboozled etc.

Obama's executive action is simply another step down Washington's insidiously dark, decades' old, profitized illegal immigration hole.

That hole is so deep and dark that most Americans can't even remember why it exists.

Illegal immigration is primarily driven by hunger and poverty.  The vast majority of the undocumented come illegally to the US to put food on their own families' tables and to improve their lives.

Notice how Washington's political illegal immigration narrative never really addresses the reason that undocumented people come here?  Does that not seem a bit odd to you?

Another point you will never hear Washington's immigration profiteers discuss:  Washington's culpability in creating the same illegal immigration that they pretend to try and control or "reform".

One need's simply to research NAFTA and the US War on Drugs as they relate to illegal immigration in order to understand Washington's true motives.

Two other points:  Washington's corporate cronies profit from not only undocumented labor but also from billons in border security tax dollars.   As with Washington's war on drugs, corporate profits from illegal immigration are made from both the legal enforcement side (border security tax dollars) and the illegal profit side (the use of the undocumented for labor and reform).

Finally effective enforcement of either of these decades'-old illegal problems is a sham.  Effective enforcement would effectively stop the illegal and legal payoffs for Washington's never-ending, self-inflicted "wounds".

Will Washington's Border Hunger Games Get Harder to "Win?

In response:

Will Washington's Border Hunger Games Get Harder To "Win"?

Does Obama and Washington really care about the undocumented and their families? Or is his executive order simply another insidious ploy to keep his Corporate Masters' party in power while keeping undocumented laborers coming to the US for said Masters' profits?

Did you notice - or have you ever noticed - how Obama and Washington ignore their Corporate Master's NAFTA and Drug War as central factors exacerbating illegal immigration to the US?

Yet Washington may try and give another faction of his Corporate Masters (those of the border security industrial complex) 20,000 more border patrol agents?  Washington will push for the House to pass the Senate's S744 which not only contains an initial price tag of 46.3 billion dollars, but calls for the doubling in size of the US Border Patrol too.  Think of the costs passed on to taxpayers - payroll, training, border patrol stations, detention centers, court personnel, overtime pay, retirements, cars, guns, ammunition, walkie-talkies, cell phones, computers, law suits, Et. al.

Think of Washington's Corporate Masters' 40+ year long, one trillion dollar failed drug war.  Their illegal immigration version of the same is not far behind.

Only a fool would ignore the fact that Obama's executive order will - without a doubt - entice millions more undocumented people to come to the US.  Only a fool would believe that hungry, motivated people can be stopped from finding a way into the US.

Only a fool would believe that America won't go through this immigration reform rigamarole again.
By the way, I speak as a retired US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent.  I speak as someone who recently exposed US Border Patrol overtime corruption. In fact this corruption is the same corruption I exposed 30 years ago as a young agent.

Most importantly of all - think of how much more difficult it will be for hungry people to cross the border in order to come to work for Obama's and Washington's Corporate Masters.
Think of Obama's action, its promise for a better life and how it will drive more poor people here. Think of continued border deaths.

Obama pretends to care for the undocumented and their families yet he says not one word about Washington's corrupt trade and drug war policies that not only causes those people to suffer in poverty at home but also entices them to come to America illegally.

Yes Mr. President your Border Hunger Games just got harder and more fallacious.

I dare say that the blood of the undocumented who will suffer border deaths to come is on your hands, Washington's and your Corporate Masters'.

American Voters Are Immigration And Drug War Idiots

In response:

American Voters Are Immigration And Drug War Idiots

They have no clue as to Washington's NAFTA and drug war complicity in creating illegal immigration and its ensuing immigration reform(s).

Meanwhile the undocumented and drugs keep rolling in.

Washington's corporate cronies keep hiring the undocumented, jailing the addicted, and laundering cartel profits while billions in border security boodle - given out for 40 years - have produced semi-effective (at best) border and interior immigration or drug enforcement.

Why the hell don't you give Amnesty to the American drug addicts who you help foster and profit off of too?

The American Middle Class - Tag-team Immigration Swindled

In response:

The American Middle Class - Tag-team Immigration Swindled

The American middle class - tag-team immigration swindled by the people "we" elect to represent our best interests.

One party plays the good immigration cop, the other the bad; yet both work for the same department of kleptocracy.

Both parties use the undocumented to further their masters' lust for cheap labor and border security boodle.

Meanwhile the American taxpayers are stuck with the costs and consequences.

The undocumented will keep coming yet none of these Washington immigration profiteers (who all claim to stand for the dignity of human beings and their families) will say one word about the border deaths or continued poverty their decades' old, corrupt NAFTA/drug war swindle will continue to produce.

Complacent Americans Aid and Abet Washington's Illegal Immigration Scam

In response:

Complacent Americans Aid and Abet Washington's Illegal Immigration Scam

Jump right into the immigration mix American voters.  Take a stand.  Pick one side or the other of Washington's illegal immigration narrative.  Rage at Obama, The Republicans, Liberals, Immigration Activists, The Undocumented, Amnesty, Mexico, Et al., ad infinitum.

Refuse to consider the fact that Washington is complicit in creating the very illegal immigration it refuses to fix.

Refuse to consider Washington's NAFTA, CAFTA and drug wars as substantive factors exacerbating illegal immigration.

Refuse to consider the fact that Washington's corporate cronies not only profit from - but depend upon - undocumented workers in order to maintain their exorbitant profit margins.

Refuse to consider the fact that immigration enforcement - like drug enforcement - has become institutionalized as another ineffective industry which is just as addicted to our tax dollars as America's drug addicts are to the products said industries can't stop.

Refuse to consider that the fact that the American middle class again will be ignored as it absorbs the costs and consequences of Washington's decades'-old immigration scam.

Refuse to consider the fact that the blood of the next wave of undocumented who - without a doubt - will come to America and suffer border deaths - will not only be on Washington's hands, but yours too.

Wake up.  Not matter how many agents Washington sticks on the border,  its enforcement efforts will never effectively stop hungry, motivated people.

Be willing to consider corporate America's insidious immigration motives which dwell outside of Washington's immigration narrative.

The Other Pawns In Washington's Illegal Immigration Scam

In Response:

The Other Pawns In Washington's Illegal Immigration Scam

Americans have had it with having to suffer the costs and consequences of Washington's decades' long, profitized illegal immigration scam.

Do any of Washington's millionaire politicians have to wait in line in over-crowded hospital emergency rooms? Lose jobs to the undocumented? See their tax dollars wasted on ineffective border security? Watch as failed enforcement unfairly turns the demographics of their towns into that of border towns?

Nope. Those calling the immigration shots live way above all that.

We know we are being used as pawns, just as the undocumented are. Yet who will put a stop to this madness?

President Obama do you expect us to be compassionate for the other pawns in this game while ignoring our own dignity and self respect?  Do you expect "We The People" to be labeled the "bad guys" because Washington abuses the undocumented at our expense?

How dare you President Obama (or Washington) victimize us for your cronies' profits.  How dare you dictate that "We The People" must accept your position - or be labeled as uncompassionate and uncaring because of your unilateral, undemocratic actions!

The Power of Willful Ignorance And Immigration Reform

The Power Of Willful Ignorance And Immigration Reform

One cannot underestimate the power of willful ignorance as it applies to illegal immigration and immigration reform.

Washington capitalizes upon America's willful ignorance about many issues, and illegal immigration is one of them:

The majority of the undocumented come here because they need to feed their families

Washington's corporate cronies (agriculture, construction, fast-food, hotel-motel, food processing) not only hire but profit from using undocumented laborers

Washington's NAFTA and its war on drugs are designed to exacerbate profitable illegal immigration

Washington's Immigration "reform" rewards and guarantees its profitable illegal immigration cycle

Washington's cronies make billions from tax payer funded, ineffective border security boodle

Washington's ineffective yet profitized war on drugs and illegal immigration have dragged on at tax payer expense for over 40 years

Voters "buy into" and continually debate Washington's fallacious, illegal immigration narrative

Americans also suffer the costs and consequences of Washington's insidious system of profitized illegal immigration (overcrowded emergency rooms, school rooms, job loses, and unfair demographic changes to American home towns)

Washington's ineffective drug and immigration enforcement have become institutionalized and normalized in America

Washington's profitized yet ineffective handling of illegal immigration is no different than that of its handling of health care, jobs, fuel and food costs, education, housing, jobs, elections, foreign policy (war) and the economy.

Institutionalized (Fill In The Blank) Ineffectiveness Brings Billions to Washington's Cronies

In response:

Institutionalized (Fill In The Blank) Ineffectiveness Brings Billions to Washington's Cronies

Does (or did) any of Washington's cronies profit from ineffective health care?  How about the war in Iraq?  How about the Great Recession of 2008?  How about higher education and student loans?  How about the rising costs of fuel and food?  How about ineffective environmental protection?  How about NAFTA job losses? How about our 40+ year long war on drugs?

You fill in the blank.  AND why would ineffective immigration laws and enforcement be any different?

As a retired US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent, it took me years to accept the truth. All things immigration in Washington revert back to crony profits from cheap labor, border security boodle, political graft, ineffective/profitable enforcement and NAFTA/CAFTA trade agreements that favor the trading rich at the expense of their countries citizens.

Washington's illegal immigration scam is not unlike their war on drugs: unwinnable
by design which translates into decades of acceptable enforcement ineffectiveness in exchange for billions in tax payer-funded corporate boodle.

Washington's Handling Of Illegal Immigration: Right Up There With Healthcare And The Economy

In response:

Washington's Handling Of Illegal Immigration:  Right Up There With Healthcare And The Economy

Why would illegal immigration be any different than any other ongoing problem that Americans face that Washington profitizes while tap dancing around?

Health care, jobs, education, the economy, poverty, war etc.?

Why would illegal immigration be any different than any other corrupt system that Washington's cronies cash in on?

This illegal immigration mess is about cheap labor, political gain, profitized trade agreements and billions is ineffective border security/drug enforcement boodle.

We The People suffer the costs and consequences while chasing our tails like some poor rabid border dog.

Yet read the posts below. See how the vast majority of posters take snippets of Washington's fallacious immigration narrative and pontificate how easy the problem could and would be to solve.

They blame anything, everything and anyone else while not realizing that their Washington spoon-fed arguments have zero to do with the actual cause of illegal immigration.

We have met the enemy Pogo, and the enemy is us.

Washington will never allow the border to be secured in such a way that it would interfere with NAFTA, illegal drugs, or its profitized system of illegal immigration. That's the part of "rocket science" that you don't get.

Who is America's 2nd largest source of oil and largest contributor of undocumented?
Not to mention illegal drugs.
Connect the immigration dots.

Immigration Greed - From The Personal To The Corporate - Rules The Day

In Response:

As a retired US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent, I am sad to see this insanity go on.  Washington and the undocumenteds' home country elite create illegal immigration by their own NAFTA, CAFTA, and profitable drug wars.  Then its corporate cronies cash in on millions of undocumented laborers and billions in border security/drug war boodle.

"Reform" activists selfishly demand relief while ignoring that millions more people will continue to suffer not only in their home countries but once they cross the border too.

Immigration greed - from the personal to the corporate - rules the day.

Washington's illegal immigration profiteers do not discuss the actual reasons why people come here or their own culpability in the process.  Nor do they care about border deaths or the tens of thousands of people who have been slaughtered in their 40+ year long, failed drug war.

We have indeed met the enemy Pogo, yet most people continue to ignore him or are him.

Priming The Illegal Immigration Pump Washington Style

In response:

Priming the Illegal Immigration Pump Washington Style

Washington tries to appease the pro immigration crowd with some "provisional" visas for dreamers and their parents. The trade off will be pumping billions more tax dollars into their crony corporate border security crowd's pockets.

Give a little here, take a lot more there. Meanwhile - the status quo of profitized illegal immigration will continue to gorge itself upon millions more undocumented laborers and billions more in border security boodle.

And US taxpayers will (as they have since Reagan's Amnesty) continue to suffer the costs and consequences of Washington's fallacious immigration narrative.

The deportation section of the border security complex will continue to rake in the bucks as the Corrections Corporation of America charges US taxpayers $125.00 per person per day for incarceration. CCA's bed space is 33,000 as new detention prisons are being built now.

Only a fool would believe that the feigned liberal and/or conservative factions within this Kleptocracy parading as a democracy are real.

There is not one thing Washington does or does not do about illegal immigration that does not have a profit angle to it.

Washigton's corporate cronies simultaneously cash in on both the illegal sides and the enforcement sides of illegal immigration and illegal drugs.

Meanwhile ignorant posters blame the undocumented, Obama, Mexico, Central America, liberals, their mommas etc.

Or they come up with all these simple solutions that will never be used.

Arguing about or within Washington's immigration narrative keeps people dumbed down to that narrative and accomplishes nothing but maintaining the failed status quo.

Designed to keep Americans fighting and unaware of Washington's role in creating illegal immigration.

The Washington kleptocracy's continuing immigration hoax depends upon voters getting all stirred up, blame gaming and fighting each other.

Meanwhile - the lifeblood of their illegal immigration monster- cheap labor and border security boodle - will continue to fuel Washington's insidious immigration narrative and its insidious immigration status quo.

Obama will kiss the Mexican elite's NAFTA/Narco culos but not say one word about 43 murdered students killed by narco thugs connected to the Governor of the Mexican state of Guerrero and Mexican Present Pena-Nieto's political party.

Tell my why that after decades of debating illegal immigration Americans have forgotten the reason that the undocumented from (fill in the blank) or Mexico come here?
Primarily it is about putting food on their tables.

Do you know that Washington's own NAFTA fattens the pockets of the bi-national trading elite while enlarging the disparities in wealth of all countries involved to unheard of levels?

Washington co-creates this mess then pretends to fix it with some type of Amnesty du jour (immigration reform) which contains to provisions whatsoever that deal with the reason the undocumented come here.

Meanwhile Washington corporate cronies tag-team rape not only the undocumented, but US taxpayers too. Use one group for cheap labor and eventual "immigration reform" while taking billions of tax dollars from the second for "designed to be semi-effective" border enforcement. Both insidiously feed off each other and exacerbate this decades' long, insane cycle.

in response:

I wonder who few if any here talk about the economic reasons that illegal immigration has become a Washington institution and guaranteed to continue?

This ongoing sham ultimately is about profit from millions of laborers and billions of your tax dollars going to ineffective border security boodle.

And as most people sense, We The People have no say so in this sham (except for the bantering back with forth with each other powerless commentators).

I don't think the majority of posters here really understand what is driving Washington's narrative about illegal immigration.  I say that as a person who worked within the system for 26 years (US Border Patrol/INS/ICE) and studied it another 10 years in retirement.

Washington's Immigration Road Is Paved In Greed, Blood, Deceit and Shame

In response:

Washington's Immigration Road Is Paved In Greed, Blood, Deceit and Shame

President Obama will use his executive power for "deferred action dreamers" and their parents.  He will "throw a bone" to a small percentage of America's current undocumented and predictably ignore the insidious reasons that illegal immigration has continued for decades - and will continue for decades to come.

This political chess move will be seen as another bump in America's long, dark and treacherous immigration road.

Despite Obama's move, Reagan's Amnesty, and current attempts at immigration reform,  Washington's immigration road is paved in greed, blood, deceit, and shame.

That is the truth Washington's immigration profiteers do not want Americans to see.

Illegal immigration brings cheap laborers and big profits for America's greedy, corporate elite.  Washington's NAFTA - which simultaneously creates profit for the bi-national elite and poverty for the foreign poor - is the real cause of illegal immigration.  Sadly the undocumented leave their homes while some will die - and will continue to die - in the border crossing process.

Don't be fooled by the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Custom's Enforcement's (ICE) token attempts to curb the hiring of the undocumented.  Their attempts are ineffective while  designed to make Americans think Washington actually cares about illegal immigration and undocumented employment.

I speak as a retired US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent.

Don't be fooled by how secure Washington says the Mexican border is.   Hardened criminals will continue to be among the people who slip through the line.  Those hardened criminals will continue to commit violent crimes against innocent American victims.

Don't be fooled by the billions of American tax dollars given out to Washington's crony border enforcement industry.  Here again only a fool would believe that border enforcement is designed to be anything but semi-effective.  Just as with their "war on drugs", the huge profits in immigration  enforcement are made by making the enforcement monster bigger while keeping it semi-effective.

Don't be fooled by "immigration reform" which pretends to solve the above problems.   How can Washington's "reform" solve illegal immigration when Washington fails to address its own foreign trade and drug war policies that exacerbate illegal immigration?
After all, one would not want to kill the goose that continually lays those golden labor, drug, and enforcement boodle filled eggs,  now would one?

Don't throw Americans under the immigration reform bus either.  Illegal immigration affects American taxpayers.  Americans are victims who have to wait in line in overcrowded hospital emergency rooms.  It affects their schools.  It causes some amount of job losses to those Americans.  It causes billions of their tax dollars to be wasted on ineffective border security.  And like it or not, it forces some Americans to accept unwanted demographic changes to some of their towns.  You folks need to get it. This is simply not fair to some Americans and has affected their natural feelings of compassion and generosity.

Finally I say to pro immigration activists - don't allow the suffering of the future undocumented to  continue.  Try and think of them - and not only yourselves.

Immigration reform that does not attack poverty as the root cause of illegal immigration is self-defeating.  More undocumented will - without any doubt whatsoever - continue to come, suffer, and die in the process.

You must include Washington's poverty causing i.e. illegal immigration causing trade policies within your activism for the undocumented.  Otherwise you are selfishly part of the problem and not part of a solution.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) You Can't Get To There From Here

In response:

Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) You Can't Get To There From Here

Remember the joke about someone stopping for directions and being told "you can't get to there from here"?

Hey CHC, you can't get to there (stopping deportations) from here (failing to address the root cause of deportations).

Kind of like asking Washington to stop soldier causalities without asking Washington to stop wars.

The root cause of deportations and illegal immigration is government induced poverty (NAFTA) and the government induced Drug War.

The CHC strengthens Washington's illegal immigration by demanding to stop deportations without addressing the actual cause of deportations.

CHC, you can't get to there from here and that is by design - and your own ignorance.

Most people here would rather get on their soap boxes and rage about their simplistic solutions to illegal immigration than educate themselves to the insidious, underlying causes of illegal immigration and Washington's illegal immigration narrative.

The two major players in this duopoly parading as a democracy each have their role to play in Washington's immigration reality show.

One plays the good immigration cop, the other plays the bad.

Now the scene is set to put on the show for voters. Each side blames the other while voters remain ignorant to the fact that both "sides" work for the same "police department".

Their goal? Keep the bucks rolling in for their corporate cronies hiring illegal workers and their corporate cronies cashing in on billions of tax dollars in border security boodle. Meanwhile, we the people remain clueless.

As a retired US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent, it has taken me years to understand this scam. I hope my learning will help you.

John M. Ackerman: A Voice Of Reason And Truthfulness From Mexico

In response:

John M. Ackerman:  A Voice Of Reason And Truthfulness From Mexico

Thank you to John M. Ackerman who continues to be a voice of reason and truthfulness from Mexico while  Obama and Washington "take the 5th" on their corrupt, narco-run, NAFTA conspiring, so-called "democracy" to the south.

Washington's insidious illegal immigration and drug war narratives continue to hide the American elite's profitization of both of these decade's-long money makers that now have become institutionalized as the American way of life

Americans need to wake up.  This isn't a result of Washington interfering in the Middle East;  this is unimaginable violence happening to our good neighbors to the south.

And anyone who thinks that what is not happening in Mexico is "not our problem" is ignorantly naïve.

You see folks Obama and Washington do not want you to know what is taking place in Mexico.
Washington continually ignores the drug war and NAFTA nightmare they have created which simultaneously not only exacerbates illegal immigration but fattens their corporate cronies' labor and border security boodle pockets.
Most American posters' arguments about immigration ignore the underbelly of Washington's insidious system of profitized illegal immigration and never-ending drug war. As such they argue about - and rip each other apart about - that which is insignificant or meaningless to any real solutions to illegal immigration.

Yet Another Fanciful Puppet Election In America

Yet Another Fanciful Puppet Election In America

It is simply magical.  "New" hopes and dreams for a better world;  a better America.  Promises are made.  Revenge makes the prospective "winning" voters all giddy as "their" politician's time has come to shine in Washington.

The media will confirm the winning voters' reasons to be oh so joyful.

Those controlling their puppet's (purse) strings put on quite a show for the voters.  Voters will then get all pumped up as they anticipate 2016.

The winds of  imaginary "change" will prevail as the American election cycle inevitably repeats itself.

Despite all evidence to the contrary, Americans hang on to the hope of a better America.

Despite all evidence to the contrary Americans hang on to the words they were taught;  "One Nation under God, indivisible - with liberty and justice for all".

Despite all evidence to the contrary Americans will caste their votes while truly believing that there is not only a real choice - but a real difference - between the moneyed elite running the show.

Despite all evidence to the contrary Americans will continue believing that they live in a democracy, not a kleptocracy.

Pogo, we have indeed met the enemy.

Divided And Conquered Americans Swirl Around The Political Toilet Bowl

In response:

Divided And Conquered Americans Swirl Around The Political Toilet Bowl

How many posters (responding to the article above) will carry their arguments against Washington, the US government or each other to their graves without witnessing any substantive, beneficial political or positive social changes in their lives?

Lots and lots of facts and positions that ultimately make little or no differences to the insidious path our country is going down.

Divided and conquered you swirl around the toilet bowl spewing the same insanities - over and over - until your last dying breaths. Using your ideological egos as life preservers while never realizing said egos are what is sucking you down.

As if slamming other posters and grabbing little ego boosts are the highlight of your days. Putting others down so you have a false, temporary sense of being in control in a world where you are not.

Pogo we have indeed met the enemy.

Washington's Goose Lays Drug, Labor And Enforcement-Boodle, Golden Eggs

In response:

Washington's Goose Lays Drug, Labor And Enforcement-Boodle, Golden Eggs

Despite US immigration laws, mega-US-industries such as those of agriculture, hotel-motel, food processing, and construction profit from the use of undocumented laborers.

I say this from my experience as a retired US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent who worked in immigration enforcement for 26 years and studied related topics for another 10 years in retirement.

On the flip side of the illegal immigration-for-labor-profit side lies the billions of US tax dollars being hoarded for semi-effective border security.

Of course this scam has become oh so insidiously similar to Washington's 40+ year long failed Drug War.

One would not want to kill the goose that lays those golden drug, labor and enforcement boodle filled eggs now would one?

All of this back and forth and not one of you consider that our own government not only creates illegal immigration to ensure a never ending supply of cheap labor (for its crony corporations) but also to ensure billions of US tax dollars (for their ineffective border security cronies' pockets).
Consider our one trillion dollar, 40+ year long failed drug war and where the majority of drugs come from. Then consider where the majority of the undocumented come from. Then connect the dots.
We are being played like fools.

43 Students Kidnapped and Presumed Murdered In Mexico: Mum's The Word In Washington

In response:

43 Students Kidnapped and Presumed Murdered In Mexico:  Mum's The Word In Washington

43 students missing and presumed murdered by Iguala police or cartel thugs. Tens of thousands murdered or missing since Calderon's 2006 US backed Mexican drug was started.

And Washington has very little or nothing to say about its corrupt, cartel-run, NAFTA trading partner to the south.

Could the Mexican economy survive without the billions of remittance dollars sent home each year? How about the billions of dollars in narco funds?

Could the US economy survive if Mexico's imploded?

Yep. Mum is the word in Washington.

Washington Co-Creates And Coddles Its NAFTA/Drug War Monstruo (Monster) To The South

In response:

Washington Co-Creates And Coddles Its NAFTA/Drug War Monstruo (Monster) To The South

Where is the outrage in Washington about the current and continuing violence in Mexico?  Why do US politicians ignore the fact that their own NAFTA and War on Drugs have caused the largest influx of undocumented to the US ever?

Come on folks, wake up.  Washington's uses its own insidious economic and drug war ties with Mexico like blinders.  Blinders that block out any normal reactions of common decency to the murderous insanity that is taking place in Mexico today.

Keep the blinders on and the profits rolling in.

Get your facts straight folks.  Read about Washington's tremendously significant economic ties with Mexico:

Washington's NAFTA elite share 1.25 billion dollars a day in cross border trade with Mexico's economic elite.  Mexico is our second largest source of oil also.

Read how US VP Biden kisses up to Mexico's s economic elite:

Biden's (Washington's) silence is proof that either could care less about Mexico's narco-dead.  He also could care less about US taxpayers who suffer the costs and consequences of continued illegal immigration.  Why else would he promise the Mexican economic elite to bring some 11.2 million undocumented out of the shadows?

Read how the Harvard elite coddle ex-Mexican "130,000" Drug War Dead Calderon:

By the way, the above article's statement of "70,000" murdered is outdated and inaccurate.

Yes.  They have created a monster.  A monster that murders and starves its own citizens.  A monster that forces its own citizens to enter the US illegally in order to survive.  A monster that capitalizes upon the illegal drugs it produces and sends north.   A monster that simultaneously feeds upon the dark money from the north and the blood of its own citizens it consumes.

And in despicable Washington the word about the atrocities in Mexico is - mum.

Focusing Upon Illegal Immigration Casualties - Not Its Causality

Focusing Upon Illegal Immigration Casualties - Not Its Causality

This is the insidious game that Washington's Immigration Profiteers have created and immigration activists (pro and con)  have bought into - lock, stock, and barrel.

Decades of casualties.  Undocumented people forced to leave their homes and families in order to put food in their mouths.  Americans forced to absorb many of the medical/educational costs and unwelcomed demographic changes brought on by another countries' poor.  Innocent citizens from both America and the undocumenteds' home countries end up being abused and sometimes killed in the process.
And the cause?  Primarily it is poverty.

Yet do we ever hear Washington politicians or immigration activists debate the economic factors that cause poverty, illegal immigration and the decades of suffering?

Illegal immigration does and did not just happen in a vacuum.  It is an ongoing process that in fact has become a way of life on both sides of the border.

I would dare to say that it has become a multi-national economic institution:

NAFTA and CAFTA foreign trade policies create exclusive profit, disparities in wealth and poverty
US corporations profit off the backs of undocumented laborers
The undocumenteds' home economies benefit from undocumented remittances
US corporations profit off of billions of US tax dollars in border security boodle
US politicians profit off of the never-ending US illegal immigration argument
US taxpayers suffer the costs and consequences of never-ending illegal immigration while the undocumented and the bi-national elite reap its benefits

Stories as the one above are tragic and may sell papers;  they don't expose the cause of these tragedies.

In that respect is the Council of La Raza part of the problem or part of a real solution?

Americans Ignorantly Support Washington's Fallacious Illegal Immigration Narrative

In response:

Americans Ignorantly Support Washington's Fallacious Illegal Immigration Narrative

That includes those activists who demand that Washington "seal the border" and those activists who demand that Washington "stop all deportations".

That also includes all of you who demand that Washington pass immigration "reform" that fails to address the root cause of illegal immigration.

All of you are being played like suckers.

In case you have not realized this, Washington's economic greed always trumps any social injustices said greed produces or could produce.   Just consider our government's response to health care, education, food, energy, poverty, the environment, the economy and illegal wars for starters.

I say that you ignorantly support Washington's fallacious illegal immigration narrative because that is all the vast majority of you argue about (keep 'em all out or let 'em all in) while never really considering the economic reasons that Washington lets the problem persist.

I am not saying that the social injustices of illegal immigration are not important.  They are extremely important.  And if all that you argue about are the symptoms of illegal immigration (i.e. social injustices) and not the cause i.e. (poverty) you play right into Washington's insidious illegal immigration scam.

Keep 'em distracted.  Keep them frightened and upset.

Educate yourselves.  Illegal immigration is caused by our own government's foreign trade policies (i.e. NAFTA and CAFTA) and their 40+ year long failed drug war.  US corporations (i.e. agriculture, construction, foot processing, hotel-motel, fast-food) depend upon a never-ending supply of undocumented laborers.  The economies of Washington's corrupt, cartel-run trading elite depend upon the undocumented sending billions in remittances home annually.

Educate yourselves about our economic ties with Mexico.  Think oil and 1.25 billion dollars a day in cross border trade:

See how our economic elite coddles Mexico's:

And the billons of US tax dollars pumped down Washington's crony, ineffective border security complex?

And for the "big picture" consider how US immigration policies are global:

Your choice.  Get to the bottom of this or continue their fallacious illegal immigration narrative.

When Will Immigration Protesters Learn To Protest The Actual Cause Of Illegal Immigration?

In response:

When Will Immigration Protesters Learn To Protest The Actual Cause Of Illegal Immigration?

"Illegal Pete's" is a chance for the "I" word to be used in a somewhat hip way.

Activists need to get over it and attack the real cause and motivation behind illegal immigration:  poverty created by the US and Mexican (Honduran, Guatemalan, El Salvadoran etc.) elite and profit from labor/remittances.

Yep.  Poverty-related illegal immigration created for the elite's profit with all the costs and consequences dumped upon US taxpayers and the undocumented themselves.

Protest that will you?

Fighting American Wars For A Green Card?

Fighting American Wars For A Green Card?

Despite US immigration laws and Washington's fallicious immigration narrative, undocumented people have harvested American crops and built American homes for many years.

Isn't it logical that Washington would try to find a way to have the undocumented fight and possibly die in American wars too?

Next thing you know Senator's Durbin and McCain will include mandatory military service as part of their border prosecutions program, "Operation Streamline".

You have to dig deep into the 1,200 pages of  "The Gang of 8's" S. 744: Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act to understand what Washington's "immigration reform" is really about:
Just scroll down to Section 6 "Comprehensive Reform Funding" (a)(2)(A) to see the initial $46.3 billion tax payer price tag.

And for extra corrupt Arizona pork, 200 million for Arizona Prosecutions (S.744 Section 6 (a)(3)(C)(2)(B)(i) referenced in 1104(a)(1), and 200 million more for Arizona's and FEMA "Operation Stonegarden" (S.744 Section 6 (a)(3)(C)(2)(B)(ii) referenced in Section 1104(b).

Their own twisted version of "Border Hunger Games"?

Shift Washington's Spoon-Fed Illegal Immigration Narrative To The Truth

Shift Washington's Spoon-Fed Illegal Immigration Narrative To The Truth

I ask readers to consider that our politicians' and Government's narratives about illegal immigration are designed only to give voters and all others debating immigration hope.  Hope that there is really a fix to this problem and that Washington is committed to solving it.

With that said and after working as a US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent for 26 years and studying this subject and their "war on drugs" for another 9 years in retirement - I believe this:

Washington has no real intention of fixing illegal immigration because its corporate sponsors continue to rake in the most profit by Washington maintaining our broken illegal immigration status quo.

Illegal immigration is about profit.

Profit for those individuals or corporations who hire undocumented workers.  For example think of the US agricultural, food processing, hotel-motel, fast food, and construction industries.

Billions of dollars for the Washington's border security and drug enforcement industries

Billions of dollars in remittances sent back to Washington's NAFTA/CAFTA trading elite's economies

Political gain by politicians who push their immigration agendas and political careers

Billions of dollars for US corporations using foreign workers instead of hiring Americans

NAFTA/CAFTA foreign trade policies that ship American jobs out of the country for cheap labor

We have all been sold a lie.  Illegal immigration is ultimately about using the undocumented for labor and US taxpayers for billions in border security boodle.

Notice how not one politician will discuss the possibility that our own Government's trade and drug war policies create poverty that exacerbate illegal immigration.  They also will not discuss in public how dependent our economy is upon that of their corrupt, cartel-run, poverty-producing NAFTA trading partner to the south.

If we do not shift Washington's spoon-fed illegal immigration narrative to the truth, nothing will change.

Another Example Of Washington's Insidious Illegal Immigration Narrative and Bill of Goods

In response:

Another Example Of Washington's Insidious Illegal Immigration Narrative and Bill of Goods

Everyone involved in this immigration story has been sold an insidious bill of goods via  Washington's illegal immigration narrative.

This kid and his Honduran family (and millions like them) bought into the American dream by believing that coming al Norte would give this boy a better life.

The de Jong's bought into the dream that providing a home for a disadvantaged, undocumented  kid would work out best for all involved.

Americans who have had it with illegal immigration tout this case as an example of Washington   effectively enforcing immigration laws.  They also believe that further enforcement would - once and for all - stop the problem.

Immigration sympathizers see this case as another sad example of America's need for humane immigration reform.

As a retired US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent who also once bought into Washington's Illegal Immigration ideologies, I see this case (and in particular people's reaction to it) as perfect examples of Washington's deceitful Illegal Immigration Narrative and Bill of Goods.

Not one Washington politician will dare consider that US illegal immigration is a direct result of Washington's own foreign trade and drug war policies.  Said policies increase poverty, violence,  disparities in wealth and illegal immigration from the undocumenteds' home counties.

Not one will admit that their largest corporate campaign donors either use undocumented labor or obtain billions of US tax dollars as part of the US border security drug and immigration enforcement industrial complexes.

Not one will admit that Mexico, one of our largest NAFTA trading partners, is dependent upon the billions of dollars in remittances and drug money sent south annually.

As sad as the story above is, it too simply reinforces Washington's illegal immigration "bill of goods" as it conveys yet another of the cancerous symptoms of the system rather than addressing the actual motives lurking behind it.

Yes, another example of Washington's Illegal Immigration Narrative and Bill of Goods.

Our Kleptocracy Parading As A Democracy Will "Fix" Immigration?

In Response:

Our Kleptocracy Parading As A Democracy Will "Fix" Immigration?

We live in a kleptocracy parading as a democracy.  Part of their scam is to brainwash voters into believing that one side or the other will "fix" immigration.

Their system is actually running exactly as they planned it years ago:

millions of undocumented laborers exchanged for billions in remittances
billions in border security boodle for selected corporate elite
trade policies that widen the disparity in wealth in all countries involved
drug wars that produce billions for the cartels and drug enforcement agencies
a national political immigration narrative that hides the above
"terrorism" which not only distracts from but continues all of the above

We have to know what they are doing in order to have any chance of changing it.

Washington's Insidiously Inconsistent Border Narrative

Washington's Insidiously Inconsistent Border Narrative

One question DHS Secretary Johnson:  If the border is secure then why in June of 2013 did the Senate ask for 46. 3 billion more "border security" tax dollars under the S.744 Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act?

Just scroll down to Section 6 "Comprehensive Reform Funding" (a)(2)(A) to see the initial $46.3 billion tax payer price tag.

And for extra corrupt Arizona pork, 200 million for Arizona Prosecutions (S.744 Section 6 (a)(3)(C)(2)(B)(i) referenced in 1104(a)(1)
200 million more for Arizona's and FEMA "Operation Stonegarden" (S.744 Section 6 (a)(3)(C)(2)(B)(ii) referenced in Section 1104(b)

Who is lying here?  The Senate then or you now Mr. Johnson?

Washington's Illegal Immigration Narrative Falsely Gives Protestors Hope

In response:

Washington's Illegal Immigration Narrative Falsely Gives Protestors Hope

That includes all proposals for and against immigration  reform which are dictated by our Government's deceptive immigration narrative and regurgitated by its citizens.

Both sides are being played like fools.  Why?  Because these are the points Washington's immigration narrative does not address:

1.  US foreign trade policies that exacerbate poverty-caused illegal immigration

2.  US industries that profit from illegal labor

3.  US industries that continually profit from tax dollars being used for ineffective border/interior enforcement

4.  US trading partners whose economies require billions of dollars in undocumenteds' remittances

5.  US industries that profit from the incarceration and deportation of the undocumented

So go ahead protestors.  Play right into Washington's insidious immigration narrative that diverts your attention away from the actual causes of illegal immigration.   Common sense dictates that attacking the symptom of deportations as a means by which to fix this decades-old system will again   prove to be fruitless.  And those of you who think that increasing deportations and border security as a means by which to fix this problem also are misguided.

The problem of illegal immigration is not meant to be solved.  One has to educate his or her self to the actual underlying, insidious economic motives and the motives of the border enforcement industrial complex to maintain the failed status quo and keep the public in the dark.

Washington's system of profitized illegal immigration for labor and border security boodle are no different than its 40+  year long, one trillion dollar war against drugs.  All of their never-ending profits depend upon their continual "fight" -  not a real fix.

Those profits also depend upon voters and protestors buying into their cunning narrative that camouflages the actual causes of illegal immigration.

Drug War and Immigration Deaths - Collateral Damages And Costs of Doing The Business Of Economic Profit

Drug War and Immigration Deaths - Collateral Damages And Costs of Doing The Business Of Economic Profit

Read VP Biden's 2013 speech to the Mexican economic elite.

Notice how Harvard University caters to Mexico's "100,000 Drug War dead" ex-president Felipe Calderon:

The decades-long war on drugs and the war on illegal immigration are insidious, institutionalized money makers for not only the US elite but the home country elite of the undocumented too. Therefore none of the governments involved will actually take responsibility for - or steps toward - effectively resolving the problems.

With that said, now that the majority of the undocumented come from countries in which Washington shares NAFTA/CAFTA "free trade" agreements with, bi-national economic profit has become more important than these collateral deaths these murderous "wars" cause.

How in God's name can Washington stand by and not only turn a blind eye to - but be a contributing factor to - this horrendous violence and death?
