Mexican Illegal Immigration and Failed Immigration Reform - A Horrible, Confounded, Twisted Mess
At its most basic level Mexican poverty (El Salvadoran, Guatemalan, Honduran, etc.) causes people to migrate or gravitate towards US prosperity in the same way that gravity causes water to seek its own level.
So what do our illustrious Washington Reform Politicians want to do about this?
The first thing they do is to propagandize Mexican illegal immigration and immigration reform in such ways as to pretend that poverty is not the cause of illegal immigration.
How else can they justify pouring billons upon billons more into their crony border industrial complex if the problem is really not about stopping the Mexican undocumented but about stopping Mexican poverty?
For those of you who say Mexican poverty is not our problem you better read up about how US NAFTA pushed more Mexican undocumented into the US than at any previous time in history.
It is our problem because Washington not only helped create but their cronies' profit from it too. How do you say? Is there not profit in cheap agricultural or industrial labor? How about profit for the corporations who contact with Uncle Sam in the endless attempt to "secure the border"? How about political capital in the continuing saga of the fight for the Latino vote? How about Washington's backing of the 2006 Mexican Drug War - have no US or Global banks profited from that? By the way, do you know how many poor people in Mexico are dependent upon the cultivation of poppies and marijuana for the Mexican cartels? In case you have forgotten, the good old USA is the number one consumer of Mexican drugs.
If this sounds like a horrible, confounded, twisted mess - it is.
The US and Mexican elite have caused Mexican poverty to become profit driven. They have caused Mexican illegal immigration to the US to become profit driven. They have caused the entire charade of border security to become profit driven. They have caused Washington's attempts at immigration reform to become profit driven.
The have caused the entire profit driven cycle of Mexican poverty, Mexican illegal immigration, Mexican US labor, Mexican home remittances, increased US/Mexico Border Enforcement, Privatized US Immigration Prisons, record deportations, a US/Mexican government-sponsored cartel takeover (120,000 dead do far) all of which culminate in another profit-driven attempt by Washington to legalize some 11.2 million people in exchange for 13 more years of labor peonage in.
Honestly folks, if you are not willing to further investigate what is going on you do not have the right to complain about illegal immigration, failed reform, the separation of the undocumented families, overcrowded hospital emergency rooms, job losses to the undocumented, or the unfair demographic changes to you hometowns.
By the way - you can substitute any other undocumented group (El Salvadoran, Guatemalan, Honduran, etc.) for Mexican and the profit driven game is the same.
