Cut through all of the hype: Immigration reform is entirely about the almighty dollar. The rest is propaganda used to sway who gets the most.
Mexico is our closest southern neighbor and a prime example to study.
The Mexican (and US) elite hoard Mexico's wealth which causes Mexican poverty which causes Mexican illegal immigration (over 50% of our undocumented) which causes their undocumented to pump remittances back into Mexico and dumps the majority of unfair costs and consequences for illegal immigration back onto US taxpayers.
Meanwhile: The US elite profit from Mexican labor, privatized immigration prisons, privatized border security corporations, and immigration "reform" that recreates this endless cycle.
The bi-national elite share 1.25 billion dollars a day in cross border trade. Mexico is our numero two source of oil. The US elite invests more money in Mexico than anyone else.
Of course US taxpayers are not only soaked for the billions in profits in this decades old nightmare, they also suffer over-crowded emergency and school rooms and unfair demographic changes in many small towns.
After twenty-six years as a US Border Patrol/INS/ICE agent, I am left with two questions:
1) Why do we chase people around at night like animals when many of those people come to harvest food for our tables?
2) Would the Mexican undocumented come or stay in the US if they could have equivalent US wages and services working at home with their families?
Gang of 8 - discuss these!
